An interesting intaglio showing the head of a bearded Satyr facing left looking at two stars and a tree on the left hand side of the composition.
Deep orange carnelian, slightly oxidised.
An interesting and enigmatic subject is shown on this intaglio. It might well be a punning type alluding to the name of the owner. These subjects were popular in Republican times when various subjects were used to allude to personal names.
