A WESTERN ASIATIC GOLD FOIL-COVERED SILVER LUNATE PENDANT, CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.

An Anatolian cast silver lunate pendant with the front covered in gold. The pendant has a loop for suspension with the facing head of a lioness below.
The pendant ends in two lion heads facing opposite directions. The gold covering seems to be a gold sheet which has been brazened to the surface. The decoration has been applied after the chisels and punches.
This piece is extremely interesting for its design and concept, it must represent an amulet to a moon cult along with the significance of the representation of the lions.
