An oval mask with articulated brows and very deep round eyes, large straight nose, slit closed mouth slightly upturned. Heavy solid cast with a large lug on the back for attachment. Intact with a very thin glassy patina . Given the depth of the eyes it is possible that there were inlays. While exact parallels are hard to find, this heavy solid cast mask has comparisons with other cultures of the Near East such as the 'Mountain Men' found in Lebanon with similar deep hollow eyes and casting technique. These are given to the first to second millennium B.C. which is the date suggested for this piece.
