A pale blue/grey chalcedony intaglio showing Jupiter seated on his throne holding a thunderbolt with an eagle seated at his feet.
Chalcedony was thought to have amulet properties in antiquity and by Roman times it was associated with Jupiter in particular. Therefore it is common to find representations of him in this particular stone.
