Lot 1684 A PAIR OF HELLENISTIC EARRINGS IN GOLD AND CARNELIAN, 4TH/3RD CENTURY BC

Reference: ART60015

A pair of Hellenistic earrings of a well known type formed from twisted gold wire which are threaded through two carnelian beads, in this case representing the heads of a man and woman. This combination is unusual as usually only female heads are represented. As such, this pair is quite exceptional not only for this but the quality of workmanship.
Size: 4.2 cm.
