Byzantine gold pendant, centered by a large emerald intaglio carved in the architectural outline of a church and engraved with the sacred Christogram (Chi-Rho). At the top appear two birds—likely pigeons or peacocks, traditional symbols of salvation and eternal life in Byzantine art. The gold frame is richly adorned with three garnets and finished with three pearl and emerald dangles.
