A finely crafted silver gilt pendant, circular in form, dating to the early medieval period. The front features intricate repoussé and engraved decoration in concentric panels, showcasing stylized geometric patterns and swirling designs typical of Ostrogothic artistry. Highlighting the central motif is a round garnet stone, encased within a cruciform openwork design, which is further bordered by detailed dotted engraving.
The outer rim is divided into quadrants by four equidistant perforations, possibly for attachment or suspension. The reverse is plain, with a subtle patina consistent with its age and use. The gilding on the face has been preserved remarkably well, emphasizing the ornament’s luxurious nature and the technical skill of its maker.
Approx. 7 cm in diameter.
