A PARCEL GILT SILVER PEDESTAL CUP, 4TH CENTURY AD

Reference: ART6001022

A late Roman pedestal cup with a double skin to keep the liquid cool in the interior. The base is also closed by an element closing the interior, probably for strength. The bowl of the cup is gilt and decorated with vine branches and leaves which would suggest a connection with Bacchus and wine drinking.
