Up for auction is a historically highly interesting textile rarity of Anatolian nomadic culture: A large, antique Saçıkara kilim border fragment from the Taurus region in South Anatolia, hand-woven around 1900. This expressive fragment originally formed the monumental longitudinal border of a large Saçıkara kilim (Yörük nomadic confederation). The piece captivates with its powerful, infinite-looking zigzag and V-pattern, which unfolds an immense optical dynamism. The individual zigzag bands are intricately interwoven with fine comb and geometric protective motifs. The masterly composition derives its vibrancy from the high-contrast interplay of natural ivory, indigo blue, madder red, pistachio green, and warm earth tones. The band is framed along one longitudinal edge by a delicate minor border in a wave design. The fragment is in a good state of preservation with an absolutely firm, stable weave structure and wonderfully vibrant vegetable dyes. Due to its long, narrow format and modern, almost minimalist-graphic character, this historical collector's fragment is perfectly suited as an extraordinary, linear wall hanging for contemporary interiors. • Condition: Good condition (authentic, structurally stable collector's condition with a beautiful patina). • Dimensions (Metric):320 by 32 cm.
