Lot 218 KUBA MASK ( BWOOM) WITH OUTSTANDING BEADWORK

Wood, plant fiber, organic material, beads, monkey fur (Black and White Colobus), shells, nuts. It is unusual to find such ornate beadwork on a Bwoom mask. The quality of the beads and the workmanship is excellent. Older mask given the use of Colobus fur; newer masks have goat hair or hair from other domestic animals. Ample signs of ritual use. Old German collection. Height 43 cm.
