An Eastern Greek in red variegated agate with a chalcedony inclusion. This scaraboid is made from a a deep red/brown agate with the back showing a layer of a blue/grey stone. The seal is a standing owl as often seen on the coinage of Athens. This would have been used a personal seal and may have been the heraldic device of the family. 15 mm x 12 x 5 mm. PROVENANCE
