Arabic and Persian manuscript on paper, comprising three treatises on the science of Quranic recitation (tajwid), each page arranged in 11 lines of black script, with titles and catchwords highlighted in red ink. Housed in a deep brown leather binding. The first treatise is a concise introduction to tajwid, discussing the articulation points and essential characteristics of the Arabic letters, together with the rules of mim sakinah, nun sakinah and tanwin, madd, waqf, and hamzat al-wasl. The second treatise provides a more extensive treatment of tajwid, addressing the rules of madd, the makharij and sifat of the letters, idgham, particularly in relation to nun sakinah and tanwin, as well as the principles of waqf and ibtidaʾ. The third treatise, written primarily in Persian with Arabic Quranic and technical passages, offers a detailed commentary on the celebrated Muqaddima al-Jazariyya by the renowned Quranic scholar Muhammad ibn al-Jazari al-Shafiʿi (d. 833 AH / 1429 AD). It examines the characteristics of the Arabic letters, including hams, jahr and istiʿlāʾ, together with the rules governing nun sakinah, mim sakinah, madd, idgham, and the principles of waqf and ibtidaʾ. The manuscript brings together three complementary stages of instruction, progressing from an introductory treatise on the fundamentals of tajwid, through a more comprehensive exposition, to a Persian commentary on one of the most influential foundational works on Quranic recitation. 16 × 23 cm
