Lot 104 A PAINTED WOOD DEVOTIONAL CABINET (MANDIR), RAJASTHAN, INDIA, 19TH CENTURY

Rectangular in form with a hinged fall-front opening to reveal an arrangement of nine small drawers fitted with turned wooden knobs. The exterior is richly painted in opaque pigments with devotional scenes centered on Krishna (Shrinathji), including a processional scene of attendants and female devotees, temple façades with worshippers presenting offerings, and a standing image of the deity adorned with elaborate pearl garlands. The hinged cover is decorated with an interior courtly scene, while the sides and top are enclosed within black borders heightened with gilt roundels.
