Lot 102 AN OTTOMAN PIERCED BRASS LAMP STAND, 19TH CENTURY

Of elegant baluster form, the tall cylindrical shaft raised on a broad stepped circular base and surmounted by a flared circular drip pan. Finely engraved throughout with alternating calligraphic cartouches in elegant thuluth script, lobed medallions, and registers of hunting scenes populated by mounted horsemen, gazelles, birds and fantastic beasts, all reserved against a dense ground of scrolling palmettes, arabesques and floral ornament. The baluster knops and spreading foot are similarly decorated with intricate vegetal motifs and geometric borders.
