Lot 146 AN OTTOMAN FILIGREE TALISMANIC SCROLL CASE, 19TH CENTURY

Of tubular form with removable end cap, the body decorated with multiple bands of applied filigree and twisted wire ornament. The central section fitted with a suspension loop, flanked by crown-like finials and rows of intricate geometric decoration. Suspended from chains are openwork spherical pendants serving as decorative bells or amuletic elements. The ends are embellished with concentric beaded borders and suspension rings. The interior fitted to contain a rolled scroll, prayer, or talisman.
