Of globular form rising from a short foot to a narrow neck with an everted rim, the vessel is covered in a turquoise alkaline glaze over a buff body. The surface is painted in black with freely rendered, calligraphic vegetal motifs and bands at the shoulder, the glaze stopping above the lower body to leave the foot and base exposed. Now irregular and mottled with encrustation and wear, the glaze reveals the archaeological character of the piece while preserving the vitality of its original decoration. Height: 24 cm
