Lot 195 TWO TREATISES ON ISLAMIC ASTRONOMY: COMMENTARIES ON AL-JAGHMINI AND AL-ṬUSI (18TH CENTURY)
Arabic manuscript on paper, comprising 34 pages, each with 19 lines written in a neat naskh script in black ink. Headings and catchwords are executed in red ink. The manuscript contains two treatises and includes multiple astronomical drawings and diagrams, illustrating celestial spheres and planetary motions.
The manuscript comprises the following treatises in the science of astronomy (ʿilm al-hayʾa):
Sharḥ al-Mulakhkhaṣ fī al-Hayʾa — a commentary on al-Jaghmini's concise yet influential astronomical compendium. It explains the geometric and cosmological principles of the Ptolemaic system as transmitted and developed within the Islamic scientific tradition.
Nizam al-Din al-Nisaburi’s Commentary on al-Tusi’s Work — a marginal commentary offering critical insight into Nasir al-Din al-Ṭusi’s treatise on theoretical astronomy. In his introduction, al-Nisaburi praises the nobility of the discipline and the distinction of its author, noting that although al-Tusi’s work is brief, it is rich in meaning and scientific content. His commentary complements and expands the original text, serving as an important source in the development of astronomical scholarship. 20 by 13,5 cm.
مخطوطة عربية على الورق، تتألف من 34 صفحة، في كل صفحة 19 سطرًا مكتوبة بخط نسخي واضح بالحبر الأسود. العناوين والكلمات التعقيبية مميزة بالحبر الأحمر. وتضم المخطوطة رسالتين، وتحتوي على عدد من الرسوم الفلكية والأشكال التوضيحية التي تبيّن الأفلاك السماوية وحركات الكواكب. الأبعاد: 20 × 13.5 سم. تشتمل المخطوطة على الرسالتين التاليتين في علم الهيئة (الفلك): شرح الملخّص في الهيئة — وهو شرح على متن الجغميني المختصر والمؤثر في علم الفلك، يوضح المبادئ الهندسية والكونية للنظام البطلمي كما نُقل وطُوّر في التراث العلمي الإسلامي. تعليق نظام الدين النيسابوري على مصنّف الطوسي — وهو تعليق هامشي يقدّم قراءة نقدية لرسالة نصير الدين الطوسي في الفلك النظري. وفي مقدمته، يثني النيسابوري على شرف هذا العلم ومكانة مؤلفه، مشيرًا إلى أن كتاب الطوسي، رغم اختصاره، غني بالمعاني والمضامين العلمية. ويأتي هذا التعليق مكمّلًا للنص الأصلي وموسعًا له، ويُعد مصدرًا مهمًا في تطور الدراسات الفلكية
