An elegant Qajar-period lantern crafted from tinned copper with intricate openwork decoration and a collapsible ribbed paper body. The pierced metal top and base display fine floral motifs, while the suspension handle allows the lantern to be carried or hung. Such lanterns were used for portable illumination in domestic and ceremonial settings in 19th-century Iran. Diameter 40 cm. 4.24 KG.
