An Arabic manuscript on paper, laid down on card. The text features a single line of Muhaqqaq script in black ink, elegantly inscribed within a cartouche set against a light green ground. Below, three lines of smaller Naskh script appear on a white ground, embellished with delicate gold cloudbands.

A lower cartouche contains the calligrapher’s details, all enclosed within a richly illuminated panel adorned with stylised floral motifs and serrated leaves in vibrant colours and gold. The composition is framed with ruled margins and an outer border also decorated in colours and gold.

This is an illuminated calligrapher’s diploma, written by Suleiman al-Barry and approved by his teacher, Yusuf Sukri. 24 by 16 cm
