Made from a thick brass sheet and of rectangular form, this object features a fitted cover. The cover is engraved and inlaid with silver. The top of the lid is adorned with a series of roundels enclosing intricate floral scrollwork, flanked by princely and courtly figures. These are set beneath a continuous band of Kufic inscriptions, executed with pronounced letterheads in an elegant script. The sides of the box are densely engraved with scenes of courtly life: seated figures in conversation, musicians, and attendants mingle among stylized animals and vegetal arabesques.
