Gouache on paper, depicting a view of the Kaaba in al-Masjid al-Haram, surrounded by houses in Mecca, in an ornate gilded period frame. Signed in Ottoman Turkish (Yüzbaşı Helmi). Dimensions: 58 by 78 cm (without frame), 110 by 92 cm (with frame). Condition: The frame has sustained damage and undergone some restorations. The painting has minor flaws but nothing significantly damaging.
