A lovely wooden sword stand 刀掛け (katana’kake) designed to hold three swords, adorned with a reticulated motif of a crest depicting the Tokugawa clan’s iconic crest, the three hollyhock leaves 三つ葉葵 (mitsuba aoi). Crafted from precious Zelkova wood (Keyaki – Japanese oak).

The Tokugawa Clan 徳川氏, founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu 徳川家康 (1543–1616), was a powerful samurai family that ruled Japan during the Edo period 江戸時代 (1603–1868). Ieyasu established the Tokugawa shogunate, a military government that brought peace and stability after years of civil war.

Period: Japan – Late Shôwa period (Late 20th century).
