A delightful lacquered low table 座卓 (zataku) features a thick top adorned in enchanting wakasa’nuri 若狭塗 lacquer, displaying a palette of orange, brown, red, and black hues. Sporadically embedded with shimmering mother of pearl 螺鈿 (raden) flakes.
The table has rounded corners and bevelled edges in a deep red lacquer, supported by four elegant console-shaped feet.
This lacquer technique is achieved by meticulously layering various shades of lacquer, then delicately ‘sanding down’ to create a captivating natural motif.
