Lot 100 A SILVER JAPANESE TEBAKO 手箱 (PERSONAL ACCESSORIES BOX) WITH APRICOT TREE, EARLY SHOWA PERIOD

An outstanding lacquered tebako 手箱 (personal accessories box) adorned with an elegant depiction of an ancient blooming Japanese apricot tree 梅の花 (ume-no-hana), set against a background of fine silver nashiji 梨子地 (sprinkled lacquer) in subtly divided squares.
The design is rendered in silver, black, dark red, and gold takamaki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief lacquer design) and completed with silver-lined rims. The interior is coated in smooth silver lacquer, and the underside is finished with a sparse red-golden nashiji on a black ground.
Height 4.8 cm, width 16.8 cm, depth 10.1 cm.

Japan – Taishô period/Early Shôwa period (Second quarter 20th century).
Complete with original wooden tomobako 供箱 (storage box) with inscription in ink.
