Pair of original Japanese woodblock prints after paintings of the artist Kin-u Takeshita 竹下金烏 showcasing two flower cart 花車 (hana’guruma) laden with a large bamboo basket 花かご (hanakago) overflowing with all sorts of impressive flowers, representing spring (l) en summer (r).

Period: Japan – around 1950.

Thought to be the student of Hogai Kano, Kin-u Takeshita (fl. c. 1870 – 1920) worked during the Meiji period as a painter. He primarily painted genre scenes, landscapes, and kacho-e, or bird-and-flower prints. In the 1950s, the publisher Uchida released woodblock prints of Takeshita’s paintings.

In a very good original condition with some minimal browning conform age. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
The print is mounted on a paper passe-partout and placed in an original wooden frame with glass. Inscription in pencil on both passe-partouts. The print has not been removed from the frame, so the mounting technique has not been inspected.
