Charming raised display stand 花台 (ka’dai) with crotch shelf, fully encrusted with shiny iridescent white mother-of-pearl 螺鈿 (raden), embedded in brown lacquered wood.
The top surface showcases a Chinese enclosed garden with several figures, one even rides a horse. Lavishly surrounded by geometrical patterns. The raised shelf connecting the four arched feet displays a design of a sparrow flying towards a pomegranate tree.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).
Dimensions:
Height 24.5 cm, Width 48 cm, Depth 32.5 cm.
In a good restored condition with missing pieces of mother-of-pearl (please have look at the photo of the center of the top surface), and small chips along the rims. Please have a look at the photos for a condition reference.
