A distinctive, large dark patinated bronze Japanese lantern 灯籠 (tôrô) comprising five sections.
It features a cone-shaped roof, crowned with an onion-shaped top. The lantern’s rotund body is adorned with an openwork flower design and includes a hinged door for accessibility. Lined with paper. Supported by a baluster-shaped pillar, elegantly detailed with ribbed rings and embossed patterns that include scrolling foliage, meandering lines, and stylized leaf motifs. It stands on a low, spreading base.
Height 143 cm.
Diameter kasa 37.5 cm, diameter onion knob 11 cm.

In a very good condition with general traces of age and wear. Dent and small hole in the foot.
