A CHINESE SPLASHED GLAZED JAR, TANG DYNASTY ( 609-960)

A Chinese jar with shouldered ovoid body tapering towards the flat base, a raised ring around the shoulders, surmounted by a waisted neck with cup-shaped mouth, covered both inside and outside with a dark brown glaze, boldly splashed on the exterior with extensive blue patches suffused throughout with light flue flecks, falling in droplets towards the base and stopping short to reveal the buff body.
