A CHINESE CARVED YAOZHOU BOWL, NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)

The slightly rounded, widely flared sides are well carved on the interior with two leafy, flowering peony stems bearing two large blossoms and a third smaller blossom in between, the design ending at the plain area below the rim. The bowl is covered overall with a glaze of greyish-olive color that also covers the center of the base.
