A Chinese yueyao vessel modelled in the form of crouching mythical beast, on short legs tucked beneath the body, the broad snouted head with fangs revealed, nostrils flared and large eyes, raised and facing forward, the details in linear relief with similarly marked beard and tufts of fur along its flanks, the long mane falling to either side, along its back with a narrow flared nozzle projecting in the centre, and its fluffy tail falling behind, the whole thinly applied in a characteristic greenish green glaze.
