The dish is decorated to the interior with a scene from the story the 'Romance of the Western Chamber' with the scholar Zhang Shen playing the qin and Cui Yingying and her maid listening outside. The exterior is decorated with a mountain landscape and the base bears an apocryphal Chenghua mark.
