TWO CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE DISHES, WANLI PERIOD (1573-1619)

The first is decorated with a bird perched on a rock amongst chrysanthemum, the foliate rim is moulded with petals of alternating flowers and birds and peaches. The other is decorated with two seated scholars surrounded by panels enclosing farmers and European floral designs.

The first: 4.5 cm. high x 26 cm. diam. The second. 5.5 cm. high x 28.5 cm. diam.

The first: has been broken into a few pieces and restuck. The second: there are two cracks to the rim (the longer approx. 15 cm.), and there are expected chips.
