A DUTCH-DECORATED CHINESE 'AMSTERDAMSE BONT' DISH

The porcelain, Kangxi period (1662-1722), the enamelling Dutch, early 18th century.
This Dutch-enamelled dish is enamelled in a Kakiemon style, also called the 'Old Lady Pattern' with a gentleman and a lady before a pavilion with bird cages and nightingales.
Diam. 21 cm.

For the original Kakiemon design, see an octagonal beaker and saucer in The Burghley House Collection as illustrated in Porcelain for Palaces, The Fashion for Japan in Europe 1650 - 1750, 1990, page 155, plate 127. Not only is this pattern known in Dutch-decorated Chinese porcelain, it is also repeated in Bow, Chantilly, and Chelsea porcelain.
