A finely modelled Chinese blue and white porcelain covered tureen, of rounded form raised on a spreading foot, with applied foliate handles and a domed cover surmounted by a moulded fruit-and-leaf finial. The body is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a tranquil landscape of pagodas, trees, bridges and flowering plants, while the cover is decorated with floral sprays and scrolling ornament within geometric borders. The rims are highlighted with gilt. H. 29 cm.
