A finely painted porcelain tea service comprising a hexagonal teapot and four covered tea bowls (gaiwan) with matching saucers. Each piece is decorated in the Wu Shuang Pu (“Table of Matchless Heroes”) pattern, depicting celebrated historical and literary figures accompanied by identifying inscriptions and excerpts of text. The figures are rendered in delicate famille rose enamels with accents of iron red, green, aubergine, and underglaze blue, reserved against a white ground. The teapot of faceted hexagonal form is painted with standing scholars and framed calligraphic cartouches. The covered bowls and saucers are individually decorated with different characters from the Wu Shuang Pu series, interspersed with poetic inscriptions, symbolic objects, and decorative borders. The bases bear apocryphal Chinese six-character Daoguang seal marks in iron red. Diam: 15 cm.
