A finely potted shallow bowl with a broad, slightly everted rim and low ring foot, covered overall with a creamy white slip beneath a transparent glaze. The interior is boldly decorated with a dark brown to black slip-ground medallion, through which a lively bird motif has been incised, revealing the lighter slip beneath. Concentric brown bands encircle the central design and define the rim.
The exterior is plain and coated with the same pale buff-white glaze, allowing the stoneware body and fine iron speckling to remain visible. The foot ring is neatly trimmed, exposing the light buff body.
