Seated upright on its haunches with the head thrown back in a roaring pose, the mouth open to reveal sharp fangs. The powerful body is moulded with a muscular chest and raised forelegs, while the back is adorned with a luxuriant, curled mane rendered in rounded scrolls. The face is crisply modelled with bulging eyes, pointed ears, and a prominent snout, and the tail rises behind in a broad, leaf-shaped plume. Covered overall with a pale bluish-white qingbai glaze pooling attractively in the recesses, the glaze falls irregularly around the base, revealing the buff stoneware body. The underside remains largely unglazed. Height: 9 cm.
