An elegant creamy white jade Yu Ge (halberd) intricately carved with openwork dragon and phoenix motifs, symbols of imperial authority, harmony, and prosperity. The blade bears finely engraved inscriptions.
The translucent jade is enhanced by natural russet inclusions.

PROVENANCE From a private Canadian collection. Formerly from Mr. Huang Zhi-Ming, a Taiwanese private collector. Mr. Huang acquired the jade pieces in Hong Kong. Some from Mr. Lai Loy (1926 - 2012), a jade dealer on Hollywood Road well known for handling and supplying archaic jade pieces to collectors, museums and other dealers and some some from private collectors in Hong Kong.
