Banded agate with gilt metal rim A finely carved agate ear-cup, shaped in the elegant oval form characteristic of early Chinese ritual drinking vessels. The cup displays beautiful natural banding in warm amber, cream, and reddish tones, enhanced by the translucent quality of the agate.

The rim is mounted with a decorative gilt metal border, adding refinement and highlighting the luxurious status of the object. Ear-cups such as this were traditionally used for wine or ritual libations during banquets and ceremonial occasions in ancient China. Dimensions: L. 12.3 by 9.8 cm. Provenance: Private collection mr.
