A large circular Bi disc carved from green jade, dating to the Neolithic period. Bi discs were important ritual objects in ancient China and were closely associated with heaven and spiritual ceremonies. They were often placed in tombs or used in ceremonial contexts.
This example features a smooth polished surface and a central perforation, highlighting the natural variations of the jade with dark green tones and mineral inclusions.
