Lot 92 SET OF TEN JADE PENDANTS, CHINA, ZHOU PERIOD (c. 1046–256 BCE)

Reference: ART10010316

A rare set of ten small jade pendants carved in the form of silkworms . Each pendant is finely shaped with segmented bodies and subtle details that capture the natural form of the silkworm.

The pieces display varied tones of jade ranging from pale cream to warm amber and brown, with natural surface weathering and mineral deposits that attest to their antiquity. Small perforations allow them to be suspended as decorative ornaments or attached to garments.

Silkworm imagery held particular significance in ancient China, symbolizing sericulture, prosperity, and renewal, making such pendants both decorative and culturally meaningful.
