A Chinese porcelain charger, the low rounded sides rising from a tapered foot, finely enameled in bright tones of blue against a rich yellow ground. The center is decorated with a ferocious five-clawed dragon writhing amid flames and cloud scrolls in pursuit of a “Flaming Pearl,” while the well is further adorned with four additional dragons among large blossoming peony scrolls. The exterior is further stylized with large peony scrolls in bloom and a Chinese Jiajing six character mark. Diameter 45.3 cm.
