Lot 26 A RARE CHINESE CARPET WITH DRAGONS AND LOTUS, LATE MING DYNASTY

Silk velvet, patterned in several colors and with metal threads. Sewn from two panels. The center with a large lotus flower (baoxiang) medallion from which large scrolled leafs are stretching into the field. In the corners each an arachaising dragon, the outer border with rain dragons grouped in pairs around flaming pearls, a border in between with square scrolls. At the four corners each an ornamental knot.
With turquoise blue lining.
212 by 125 cm.
Condition: loose threads and brittle at the border and damaged.
