Lot 392 A CHINESE FAMILLE NOIR SQUARE-SECTION VASE

The vase has a tapering square section, with each face decorated with birds perched on a prunus branch above flowers, or butterflies in flight above peony-blossoming branches and pierced rocks in varying shades of green enamel, all set against a deep black ground. The neck is similarly decorated with prunus and bamboo among rocks. The base features an apocryphal Kangxi mark.
