Lot 408 A CHINESE PARCEL-GILT BRONZE 'SEA CREATURES' CENSER, COVER AND STAND

The censer is of bombe form cast with two loose-ring beast-head handles, the body is cast in relief with eight mythical sea creatures picked out in gilt all on a ground of tumultuous waves. The base of the censer is cast with an apocryphal Xuande mark. The openwork cover is decorated with two dragons chasing the flaming pearl amongst cloud scrolls.
