A pair of silver Berber Fibulae – Tizerzai –

Triangular in shape, made of cast and carved silver, finely engraved and decorated with yellow and green enamel and set with red, green and blue glass stones and silver coins, with long engraved needle and movable ring which helps secure the fibula to the textile.

Fibulae were commonly worn by women as an everyday adornment whilst going about daily work as well as on special occasions. It is essentially a cloak fastener, comprising an ornate metal triangular, round or oval shape with detailed etchings in filigree or enamel, and a pin which serves to fasten two layers of material together and were usually worn as a pair. These type of Fibulae are worn by Berbers, the indigenous ethnic group of North Africa.
