A SHIRVAN MARASALI PRAYER RUG, CAUCASIAN

A Caucasian shirvan rug with a lattice design on an ivory ground. Each lattice opening contains a flower. Most are different. The spandrels contain pieces of lattice work which are very asymmetrically decorated. It has a fairly standard Marasali S border on a red ground with blue, tobacco and ivory. 115 by 170 cm.
